about PG Silva Consulting

Banking

Jerry Silva, founder of PG Silva Consulting, has been in the retail banking industry for 25 years. His experience includes working in various top retail banks in the US in different technology, operational, and business roles since his first banking role at First Chicago in 1984. Predominantly responsible for the delivery channel networks at BayBank Systems, he managed the ATM and branch network technologies and was system architect for the bank's first PC banking solution. He helped manage the bank's technology integration during the merger with Bank of Boston in 1998. His last role was Director of Network and Systems Planning for the global electronic bank at BankBoston.

Consulting and Research

As lead consultant, Jerry helped establish a US banking consultancy for Montreal-based CGI Group, the largest management and technology consulting firm in Canada. His primary focus was helping mid-sized banks plan for and manage existing and new technology implementations, including the development of IT strategy, project management and process review.

In 2000, Jerry joined leading financial services research firm TowerGroup. He was responsible for research and analysis of delivery channel technologies in retail banking.

Jerry supported the creation and aggressive expansion of TowerGroup's successful Delivery Channel practice, becoming Director of that service in 2004. In addition to publishing timely and provocative analysis of the state of technology in banking delivery channels, his general technology experience also allowed him to cover cross-industry topics like security, fraud, and communications.

While continuing to help financial institutions navigate the technology waters, Jerry also served the technology vendor community, leveraging his deep knowledge of the industry to support the positioning, marketing, and business development of solutions targeted at financial institutions. In this capacity, he worked on everything from market entry strategies and competitive analysis to direct sales tactics for individual providers.

Product Management

Most recently, Jerry held the role of Vice President of Product Strategy for global front office solutions leader S1 Corp. He was responsible for determining product strategy for their Consumer Online, Small Business Online, and Mobile Banking products, including S1's Bill Pay Warehouse. In his first year with S1 Jerry oversaw the development of product management processes to improve roadmap creation, partner management, bank co-development, and Quality Assurance testing, the latter which was chosen as the standard for an S1-wide project to improve code quality across the enterprise.

While focused on improving the processes internal to the company, Jerry was also responsible for communicating with the S1 client base, primarily through the Product Advisory Council, not only to gather requirements and ideas to foster innovation in the product, but to continue to educate and enlighten the banking community on the trends in technology and financial services.

Communicator

Jerry is an effective writer and speaker. His published research is often quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and the New York Times. His speaking engagements have included everything from the smallest vendor user conferences, to large industry conferences such as the BAI Retail Delivery Show, and chairing industry events like the Financial Services Technology Forum and the Identity Theft and Fraud Symposium. He continues to contribute content for publications like American Banker, Bank Systems & Technology, and others.
